Anna Leigh Ashford

Annaleigh Amanda Ashford is an American actress singer and dancer. She started her Broadway career performing in musicals like Wicked, Legally Blonde and Hair. In You Can't Take It With You in which she was awarded the Tony Award as Best Featured actor in a Play. Annaleigh Ashford, Tony Award winner actor has worked with many well-known directors and actors on stage and screen. The award-winning actress continues her career with her upcoming projects. Ashford will be next in the role of Kumail Nanjiani in the Hulu limited series Welcome to Chippendales from creator Robert Siegel premiering on November 22. Ashford has been involved in Searchlight Pictures' horror film Dust with Sarah Paulson alongside Ebon and Moss Bachrach. The film will be available through Disney's DTC platforms as a Hulu Original. Ashford's Broadway return is scheduled to take place in the month of March 2023, when he plays alongside Josh Groban for the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre revival of Stephen Sondheim's Sweeney Todd. This show will be directed by Thomas Kail and produced by Jeffrey Seller, the team that produced Hamilton. Ashford was most recently seen as Paula Jones in the new Ryan Murphy FX series American Crime Story Impeachment which is based on the crisis in America that picked across the country. Paula Jones Monica Lewinsky and Linda Tripp as principal characters in the country's first impeachment trial in more than 100 years. Ashford was a part of two seasons in the CBS hit comedy B Positive. In addition, she appeared on the hit series created by Marco Pennette Chuck Lorre, with famous actors Linda Lavin Hector Elizondo Ben Vereen. No stranger to Broadway Ashford has won both the Tony Drama Desk Award and the Outer Critics Circle Awards with her role as Essie. Other Broadway performances for Ashford are Sunday in the Park, in which she starred with George Wicked legally Blonde, and her role as Lauren in Kinky Boots. For this role, she earned a Tony Award nomination. Ashford divides her time between Los Angeles & New York. She was born in Denver and was raised in Denver.
